Blood Donation Camp on 21st October 2019

The NSS Cell of PCCE organized their annual blood donation camp on 21st October 2019 from 9:00 am onwards at the college auditorium. The event was organized under the guidance of Prof. Dattaprakash Vernekar (NSS Programme Officer, Asst. Professor, Mechanical Dept), Ms. Linnet D’Silva (Technical Assistant, Computer Dept) and Mr. Aaron Pereira (Sports Director) along with the student representatives Ms. Saily Shirodkar(TE IT) and Mr. Nehal Ansari (TE ETC).

At the inaugural ceremony the gathering was addressed by our Principal Dr. Mahesh B. Parappagoudar followed by Dr. Niyan Marchon (Training & Placement Officer) in the presence of the college staff, the student volunteers and the staff of Hospicio Hospital, Margao. Dr. Ravin Rego (Medical Officer, Hospicio, Margao) briefed the gathering about blood donations, its myths and facts and discussed the criteria to be eligible to donate blood. Dr. Ravin Rego along with his team that comprised of Mr. Sanjeev Nayak (lab tech), Mr. Krishna Juwarkar (lab tech), Ms. Lakxada Khandeparkar (lab tech), Ms. Sonali Dessai (lab tech), Ms. Kalpana Desai (counsellor), Ms. Satana Costa (attendant) and Mr. Harichandra Malgi (driver) were presented with a token of appreciation and the inaugural ended with Ms. Vidhi Malhotra (BE IT) giving the vote of thanks.

The NSS volunteers were divided into 4 groups; group 1 was in-charge of making the posters for the blood donation camp, group 2 was in-charge of making announcements in every class and spreading awareness about the camp, group 3 set up the venue and volunteered at the camp and group 4 comprised of the volunteers who were willing to donate blood.
A total of 90 donors registered of which 65 were eligible to donate blood which comprised of 19 NSS volunteers, 59 non NSS volunteers and 12 staff members.
The event was successfully conducted where 15 units of A+ blood, 17 units of B+ blood, 22 units of O+ blood, 8 units of AB+ blood, 1 unit of O- blood and 2 units of B- blood were collected.
