NATIONAL WOMEN’S ENTREPRENEURSHIP ENCLAVE, BANGALORE

Sohini Pandit, student of fourth year, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, attended the National Women Entrepreneurship Conclave as a representative of Padre Conceicao College of Engineering.

The event was jointly organized by AICTE and International Institute of Waste Management(IIWM) , Bangalore on 3rd and 4th September 2018 and held at the Jain University Global Campus , Bangalore. The event was attended by 2000 aspiring women entrepreneurs in waste management and attempted to inspire the next generation of women entrepreneurs. >

Day 1: 3rd September 2018

On 3rd September, Sohini answered the online test, mainly based on personality inventory and cognitive ability, which provided an idea of the entrepreneurhip aptitude of the person. During the conference attendees shared opinions , thoughts and suggestions for consideration during upcoming Women Entrepreneurship conclave.

Post lunch i.e second session of the first day, the delegates discussed about types of incubators and how to start up as an Entrepreneur.

The discussion also extended about the qualities needed for an entrepreneur. The key points are as follows.

• Willingness

• Identify your problem statement which is solvable

• The purpose should be useful for society

• Skill empathy ,planning and execution

• Identify your core team members

• Start small , then grow , then scale and then check your finance

Day 2: 4th September 2018

On 4th September, second day of the conference, the chief patrons inaugurated the National Women Entrepreneurship Conclave 2018 A visit to the Jain University Incubation Centre (Juincubator), VRROK was an added advantage and a practical exposure to all the delegates.

Eminent Women in Waste Management. Few of them are:

1. Kausarbanu, an e-waste Entrepreneur,

2. Smt Leelavathi, a para Olympian,

3. Saroja Bakley, recyclist of human hair,

4. Naina Shah, director of Eco paradine system,

5. Chaya Prabu, director Lagoo udyog Bharath and

6. Chitra Rajan, a biogas generationist (biogas cylinder supplier to Harohalli industrial area).

The guest speaker Smt. Madhuri Sahasrabudhe, Chairperson, Foundation for Holistic development in Academic Field, spoke about entrepreneurship and the empowerment for the next generation.

Dr. N.K Krishnan discussed about e-garbage and e-waste, its methods of disposal and waste minimization. He spoke about the importance of skill development .

This was followed by the inaugural address by the guest of honour Mr. Jerin. The gathering was highly motivated and inspired by the entrepreneurial speech & that everyone would have developed innately. The session was concluded with the release of the Mentors directory and the importance of mentors in day to day life was made known.

Post lunch in second session, there was a technical session on Entrepreneurship in Waste Management and Financial Empowerment for Entrepreneurship Development in Waste Management. There was also an open house interaction with established Entrepreneurs.

Accommodation was provided for the delegates in Bangalore hotels.
