REPORT ON OPPORTUNITIES IN IT SECTOR AND STARTUPS

A two session program was organised by Office of the Commissioner, Labour & Employment, Regional Employment Exchange, Government of Goa, Panaji in association with RDCC and COSME of Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Verna. The sessions basically focused on opportunities for engineers after graduation. The Principal welcomed the gathering and emphasized the importance of building skills to avail the job opportunities available at the local, national and global level. Rev. Fr. Issac Fernandes, Assistant Director, Agnel Technical Education Complex attended the session.

 

First session was on the topic ”Opportunities in IT Sector and Start-up” delivered by Mr. Milind Prabhu, CEO and MD of Genera Infotech. Mr. Milind is also the co-founder of Lahab Biryani, Chairman of IT committee Goa, Chamber of Commerce and Industries and an advisory board member of STPI, Ware technology parks of India. Mr. Milind gave students incites on different technologies which are important for the new age engineers. He also encouraged students to register for various courses available on online platforms. He also advised students to make teams of like minded friends for developing skills. Mr. Dattaraj Naik, Assistant Employment Officer gave the vote of thanks and also handed a memento to Mr. Milind as a token of gratitude. 

 

Employment Opportunities in Engineering and Manufacturing

Second session was on the topic ”Employment Opportunities in Engineering and Manufacturing” delivered by Dr. Harpreet Singh,  Assistant Professor, School of Mechanical Sciences, IIT Goa. Dr. Harpreet’s has expertise in the domain of multiscale modeling of multiphase materials, impact modeling of composite materials, geometric modeling of thin materials and fluid structure interaction modeling of marine composites. Dr. Harpreet touched upon various areas where mechanical engineers can work. He also encouraged students to explore various research fields in the Mechanical domain. Dr. Harpreet also showed students how Mechanical engineers can fit in any industry by giving some relevant examples. He also interacted with the students and resolved their queries. Mrs. Tanvi D’Souza from the Employment exchange gave the vote of thanks and presented a memento to Dr. Harpreet Singh.
