FIRST YEAR INDUCTION PROGRAM
On 27th July 2018, Padre Conceicao College of Engineering held its First Year Induction at the Agnel Ashram Auditorium. The event was held in order to introduce and welcome the First year students, Second Year Diploma students and First Year ME Students and their parents to the college. Ms. Rohin Pinto, Deputy Head OYO Rooms, an alumnus of the college was the Chief Guest for the event.
Rev. Fr. Antony Castello, Director of Agnel Technical Education Complex, addressed the gathering and welcomed the students to the college. The Chief Guest Mr. Rohin Pinto emphasized the importance of chasing ones goals and working hard to achieve them. He also motivated students to focus on building up their dreams and enjoying their college experience.
The Principal Dr. Mahesh B Parappagoudar made an in depth presentation on the college and its various facilities, infrastructure, faculty and departments. Dr. Jayalaxmi Devate, Prof. Joe Kurian, Ms. Anusha Pai and Ms. Razia Sardinha, Heads of the Departments of Electronics and Telecommunications, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Information Technology respectively, made the students aware of all that their departments encompass and encouraged them to make the most of their four years as engineering students.
The Head of the Training and Placement Office Prof. Niyan Marchon gave the students an idea of how placements are conducted and showed the gathering statistics regarding placements in the last couple of years. It has been a fruitful and successful year, with 93% of the eligible students being placed by the end of the year. Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Bosch, Siemens, Sulzer, Panasonic, Tech Mahindra, JSW Steels, Zuari Industries, HSBC, Persistent Systems Limited were among the top 20 MNCs that conducted campus recruitments at PCCE.
The students were also enlightened by the Chairman of the Cultural Committee, Ms. Alzira Xavier as to the various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that the college organizes and participates in, thereby encouraging a balance of academics and such activities for the holistic development of the students. Prof. Cynthia Noronha, Basic Sciences and Humanities (Chemistry) proposed the vote of thanks. The program ended with a cultural program and high tea that saw the parents and students interact with the faculty at length.
