ACM STUDENT CHAPTER “COMPILER CONSTRUCTION”
The PCCE ACM student council for the academic year 2019-2020 comprises of the Chair Ms. Vaishnavi Nayak from B.E. Comp., the Vice Chair is Ms. Nikita Dias from B.E. I.T., the treasurer is Ms. Manasi Kirloskar from T.E. Comp., and the secretary is Mr. Shrinivas Pai Kane from B.E. Comp.
The PCCE ACM Student Chapter organised a talk on 19th September 2019 under the ACM India “Eminent Speaker Program”. Mr Vivek Kulkarni, Delivery Head and Chief Architect, Persistent Systems Ltd., Pune was the speaker for the event.
He gave an overview of the basics of compilation theory, parsing techniques and automated parser generation. The details of intermediate code generation, especially three-address codes were also touched. He gave some flavour of the tools Lex/Yacc.He explained how compiler construction is object-oriented. He also shared his knowledge of creating his own compiler. He stressed on the importance of laying strong foundations in programming by studying and revising the principles of programming languages and the theory of computation.
The Head of the Computer Engineering Department Ms. Anusha Pai appreciated Mr. Vivek Kulkarni for his lucid explanations.
Ms Manasi Kirloskar compered the event, Mr. Shrinivas Pai Kane introduced the speaker and Ms. Vaishnavi Nayak proposed the vote of thanks
A total of 34 ACM student chapter members attended this event. The event was coordinated by Asst. Professor Siddesh Savant and Asst. Professor Cassandra Fernandes from the Information Technology and Computer Departments respectively.
