Installation of ACE (Association of Computer Engineers) 2023-24

On the 1st of September 2023, the installation of the ACE core committee was held at Computer Lab 2. The event began with a description of ACE and a brief summary of the past events held by the student chapter. Mr. Leander Faleiro from S.E. Comp and Ms. Riya Verlekar from T.E. Comp were the hosts of the event. 

The chosen committee members were introduced; Mr. Vivek Paste (B.E. Comp) – the President, Mr. Palaash Naik (T.E. Comp) – the Vice-President, Ms. Jianna Da Costa (S.E. Comp) – the secretary, Mr. Jimil Mandani (T.E. Comp) – Magazine Secretary, Ms. Ridhi Jha (T.E. Comp) – the Editor and Mr. Samarth Singh (T.E. Comp) – the Design Head.

The swearing in ceremony took place next where the members were asked to take an oath of office pledging their time and support to the association. Following the pledge, Mr. Vivek Paste, President of the ACE student council, introduced the chief guest Dr. A. Baskar and invited him to address the audience and share his insights on Formal Verification. Dr. A. Baskar is an Assistant Professor in the CSIS department of BITS Goa, 

Dr. A. Baskar outlined how formal verification is a crucial step in the process of identifying logical and syntactical errors. He described the many kinds of software bugs and ways to reduce vulnerability. Even if a super software is one of the obvious solutions, it isn’t preferred. Consequently, we favour model verification and theorem proving. Dr. A. Baskar also shared the list of references for his talk. 

Following the enlightening discussion on formal verification, the event transitioned to the “Poster Design Competition Results”. Ms. Vaishnavi Manoj Sawant Dessai, student from the Fourth Year computer engineering was awarded the first place for her poster on “Virtual Reality”. Ms. Anjali Patil and Mr. Chetan Magundnawar, students from Fourth Year computer engineering received the second place for their poster on “AI”.

The winners received their prizes and certificates from Dr. A. Baskar, the Chief Guest and Dr. Anusha Pai, the Head of Department. Dr. Supriya Patil presented the participants with certificates. The vote of thanks was presented by Mr. Palaash Naik, Vice-President of the ACE student council.

The event concluded with a photo session of the committee members, professors and the chief guest. Mr. Mangesh Phadte (T.E. comp) captured the memories of the event.
