Report on “Future-Proofing your career by learning boring technologies”

“ACE – Association of Computer Engineers” Student Chapter organized a Seminar on “Boring Technologies: Secret sauce to a long career in the software industry” as a part of Aarush 2023. The session was held on 2^nd November 2023 at 2.00 in the lecture hall L25 for the B.E. Comp students.

The resource person for the session was Mr. Saurabh Nanda, Founder of Vacation Labs, a B2B travel SaaS startup. The audience comprised of Final year Computer Engineering Students. Mr. Livio Mascarenhas (B.E. Comp) introduced and welcomed Mr. Nanda.

The session covered the Technology Hype Cycle by Gartner, the pitfalls of exciting technology for a business, and technologies that have passed the ‘trough of disillusionment’. The students were encouraged to learn SQL/RDBMS, Redis, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Java, Python/PHP, JSON/XML, HTTP, DNS, SSH, OAuth, and Git; and master fewer technologies effectively.

Ms. Shreya P. Sawant (B.E. Comp) proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Vivek Paste (B.E. Comp), the ACE president co-ordinated the event.
