Be Your Own Digital Bouncer – Cyber Hygiene & Digital Forensics
The ACM Student Chapter of Padre Conceição College of Engineering (PCCE) successfully organised an exclusive workshop titled “Be Your Own Digital Bouncer – Cyber Hygiene & Digital Forensics”. The event was held as part of the technical festival, AARUSH 2025, organised by the college.
The workshop took place on Thursday, 25th September 2025, from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM, in Computer Lab 2 at PCCE, Verna – Goa and was attended by more than 50 participants. The primary objective was to empower participants with crucial knowledge and practical skills to actively protect their digital identity and navigate the complexities of the digital world securely.
The event’s administration was efficiently conducted by the student organizing committee, led by Ms. Disha Naik (Event Head). The faculty coordinators for the event were Dr. Louella M. Colaco and Ms. Meghana Pai Kane. The program commenced with Ms. Bhumi Bhatkar (Anchor), an ACM Student Member, warmly welcoming the participants and introducing the esteemed speaker.
The session was delivered by Ms. Ojaswani Bhargava, a distinguished Cyber Hygiene Educator & Digital Forensics Analyst. Ms. Bhargava conducted a knowledge-packed, interactive session that transformed complex cybersecurity concepts into actionable best practices. The workshop provided comprehensive coverage of digital security issues, commencing with an exploration of manipulation tactics like social engineering and practical strategies to avoid prominent financial frauds such as digital arrest, crypto/investment scams, and deceptive work from home scams. A significant portion of the session focused on data security, detailing the risks associated with large-scale company data leaks and the compromise of personal credentials through password leaks from services like Amazon and Flipkart.
Furthermore, the session equipped participants with investigative and defensive tools. This included demonstrating how to use Whois Lookup to determine who owns a website and utilizing Virus Total to check for and identify malicious phishing links. Attendees were also educated on sophisticated threats like Deepware and the challenges posed by Deepfake Videos, learning techniques on how to detect fake videos. The workshop concluded with essential guidance on using personal safety features such as Find My Device and the correct procedure for reporting cyber incidents using the official Cyber Crime Helpline Number.
Towards the conclusion of the workshop, Dr. Supriya Patil, Head of the Department of Computer Engineering, presented Ms. Ojaswani Bhargava with a token of appreciation. The workshop was formally concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Pavani Desai, who acknowledged the speaker’s profound insights, the efforts of the ACM Student Chapter’s team, and the enthusiastic participation of the students.
The success of the “Be Your Own Digital Bouncer” workshop was a testament to the ACM Student Chapter’s commitment to providing crucial, cutting-edge knowledge, with E-certificates issued to all participants to mark their journey of cyber safety and digital empowerment.
