LIBRARY

The Library is the heart of an educational institution. The same is true with our Library also. The Central Library is an excellent state-of-the-art infrastructure having a unique resource collection that is international in scope. Currently, the Library holds collection of 25728+ books which include textbooks as well as reference books. It includes stacking area, reference section, main reading area and separate reading area for reference section.

The field of engineering is fast developing; to help the students and the staff keeps abreast of the current developments, the Library regularly subscribes IEEE 187+ e-journals and 1400+ proceedings which are international and 44 print journals and magazines.

This is an age of digital libraries. The services of Central Library are rendered online through an integrated web-based Library Management System and in-house functions like acquisition; cataloguing and circulation are automated with open-source software NGL (NewGenLib). Through OPAC(online Public access catalogue)  patrons can utilize the resources more efficiently by keeping all relevant information (like new arrivals, availability of titles of their interests, etc.) at their fingertips. Students and staff can have access to the central library from anywhere within the college campus.

LIBRARY RULES AND REGULATIONS
General Rules
• Every reader entering the library should deposit his or her belonging at the property counter.
• Every reader entering the library should ENTER their names and details in the ENTRY REGISTER.
• Nobody will be allowed to enter the library with over coats, Jackets and boilersuits and files, folders and personal books.
• Every reader shall present his/her identity card on demand by the library staff.
• Loud talking conversations, etc are strictly prohibited in the library.
• Silence and discipline are to be strictly maintained in the library.


Borrowing Rules
• The user ID card also serves as your library card; no separate card is issued. Use your roll number as your user ID to access your library account.
• Students are allowed to borrow 3 books at a time on their account.
• While borrowing a book from the library the card holder should sign on book card. ID cards are NOT transferrable.
• Detained students will not be issued any books.
• Issued books cannot be returned on the same day.
• Any book will not be renewed more than twice.
• Books and other reading materials borrowed by any reader may be recalled by the librarian any time and should be returned within 24 hours or as indicated.


Book Circulation Rules
• Issue System: Books will be issued on the presentation of the ID card. Students are instructed to check the books while borrowing and they will be responsible for any type of damage or mutilation noticed at the time of return.
• Overdue Charges: For student’s books borrowing period is of 10 days. After the due date for returning a book, a fine of Re. 1/- per day will be charged for the first ten days. From the eleventh day onwards the fine levied will be Rs. 5/- per day.
• Book Lost: Borrowers will be held responsible for materials out on loan. If the material is lost, an immediate report should be made to the Librarian to enable appropriate action to be taken. A borrower is allowed to either replace the book lost/damaged by purchasing it himself or paying current cost of book with ten percent service charges and overdue of the book if any.
• Loss of cards: Loss of ID card should be reported to the office in writing.
• Validity of library membership: Library membership is valid for the four year for BE programme and 3 years for ME programme.
• No due Certificate: Each student shall obtain No dues certificate from the library after returning all the books issued, surrendering the borrower’s cards and after paying outstanding dues if any.
• Care of Library Books: Students are required to handle the books/journals very carefully; marking with pencil, writing, or highlighting, tearing the pages or mutilating the same in any other way will be viewed very seriously. In such case, reader shall be held responsible unless these are brought to the notice of the library staff at the time of issue.
