INAUGURAL FUNCTION OF IETE STUDENT’S CHAPTER

The department of Electronics and Telecommunication of Padre Conceicao College of engineering inaugurated the IETE students forum (ISF) on 23rd March 2017. The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) is India’s leading recognized professional society devoted to the advancement of Science and Technology of Electronics, Telecommunication & Information technology. The IETE is the National Apex Professional body of Electronics and Telecommunication, Computer Science and IT Professionals. It serves more than 1,25,000 members (including Corporate, Student and ISF members) through 64 centers, spread all over India and abroad. The Institution provides leadership in scientific and technical areas of direct importance to the national development and economy. Government of India has recognized IETE as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) and also notified as an educational Institution of national eminence.
The program began with an address by Ms. Reena Fernandes, Assistant Professor, ETC Dept., who provided the gathering with glimpses of SENATE initiatives during the past years especially during 2010-2012. This was followed by an introduction to the new SENATE council. Badges were presented to the council members; afterwhich the representatives took an Oath for their respective posts.
The objectives of ISF of the college focus on conducting and sponsoring technical meetings, conferences, workshops, symposia, and exhibitions, publish technical journals and provide continuing education to its members.
The chief guest for the inaugural function was Mr. Deepak Chodankar, Senior Vice President, SimNet VLC. He advised the students to use the various facilities available with IETE chapter to enhance their skills as well as keep abreast the latest advances in their areas of interests. He emphasized that in the modern competitive world, the only way to thrive in any environment is to have expertise and verifiable skills in your domain of interest.
The chairman of IETE Goa Chapter, Dr. H. G. Virani, Professor and HOD, Department of Electronics and Telecommunication, Goa Engineering College, Farmagudi, provided an overview of the activities of IETE . He also emphasized the opportunities and funding options available for conducting technical activities. He expressed his happiness at the inauguration of the 3rd IETE Students forum in Goa.
Dr. K. R. Pai, HOD ETC department, PCCE spoke about the high quality of technical publications of IETE . He exhorted the students to take publish their research findings in the IETE journals.
Ms. Avita Lotlikar, faculty co-ordinator for ISF provided a brief overview of the activities planned for ISF. These include paper presentations, workshops, seminars and guest lectures with the objective of enhancing the technical proficiency of students as well as maintain the academic leadership in the state of Goa. The ISF branch of PCCE has over 100 registered students.
Mr. Siddharth Bansode and Ms. Divya Shettigar were appointed as the Chairman and Honorary secretary of the steering committee of ISF . Ms. Avita Lotlikar will be assisted in the activities of IETE by Mr. Vaibhav Vernekar and Mr. Shailesh Khanolkar, faculty members of ETC department. The vote of thanks for the inaugural function was proposed by Mr. Vaibhav Vernekar.s and special lectures, industrial visits of students, the college magazine Ethos and the bi-annual PCCE newsletter called Newsline. Initiatives are also taken to maintain relationships via Institute-Industry Interactive Meets.
