CLEANING DRIVE, POSTER COMPETITION & STREET PLAY
PCCE NSS Cell celebrated NSS day on 24th September 2018. To emphasize Swacch Bharat Mission campaign that aims to achieve the vision of ‘clean India’ which was launched by our Honourable Prime Minister of India, the NSS day in PCCE was celebrated under the banner, “Garbage Free Goa”. The following events were conducted on 22nd September & 24th September 2018.
On 22nd September 2018, a garbage cleaning drive was conducted at Udear Springs Verna from 9.30 AM to 12.30PM. A total of 37 NSS Volunteers and 5 faculty members participated in the cleaning drive. The Sarpanch and Panch members of Verna village panchayat visited the spring during the drive and encouraged and appreciated the work done by PCCE NSS volunteers. The collected garbage was handed over to Verna panchayat for segregation and Recycling. In continuation, a poster competition was organised for the NSS Volunteers in PCCE auditorium from 2.00PM to 5.00PM on the theme “Garbage Free Goa”. A total of 33 NSS volunteers participated in 11 groups. Group # 8 Mr. Qalandar Sayed (BE IT), Ms. Andy Carvalho (BEIT) and Ms. Luzvi Santimano (BE ETC) won the first place. The Second place was won by Group #11, Mr. Vinay Shenvi (BE ETC), Mr. Omkar Naik (BE ETC) and Ms. Sohini Pandit (BE ETC).
On 24th September 2018 a street play was presented for the students of Third year and Final Year which highlighted the garbage menace and its ill effects. Ms. Linnet D’Silva (NSS member, Comp Dept) compered the event. The winners and runners up of Poster Competition were felicitated with trophies. Mr. Dattaprakash Vernekar (NSS Programme Officer) proposed the Vote of Thanks
