International Day of Mathematics 2022 Celebrated by I.T. Department

Information Technology Department of Padre Conceicao College Of Engineering, Verna celebrated the “International Day of Mathematics 2022” (IDM 2022) on 14th March. The theme for IDM-2022 was “Mathematics Unites”.

IDM is a prestigious project led by the International Mathematical Union with the support of numerous international and regional organizations. The event hosted by Padre Conceicao College of Engineering; Verna has been published on the world map by International Mathematical Union.

The Keynote Speaker was Dr. Stephen Dias Barreto, Head of Basic Sciences and Humanities Department. He spoke on “Role of Mathematics in Core and Emerging Areas of Information Technology”.

There were also some interesting sessions conducted by the faculty of Information Technology on the “Role of Mathematics in IT Courses Taught. Asso. Prof. Dr. Terence Johnson (Algorithms and Machine Learning), Asst. Prof. Ameya Wadekar (Image Processing), Asst. Prof. Siddesh V Savant (Finite Automata), Asst. Prof. Ravina Rodrigues Quadros (Computer Graphics) and Asst. Prof. Natasha D’Costa (Neural Networks) were the speakers.

Quoting American mathematician Stan Gudder – “The essence of math is not to make simple things complicated, but to make complicated things simple”. IDM-2022 at PCCE was a huge success!
