BE Comp Visits NCPOR, Vasco

Final Year Computer Engineering students of Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Verna visited the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research, Vasco (NCPOR) on 12th May, 2022. The visit was organized by PCCE Training and Placement Cell.

During their visit, our students were privileged to interact with Project Scientists at NCPOR, Dr. Swati Nagar and Mr. Lalit Kumar Ahriwar.

Dr. Swati introduced the work carried out by NCPOR, India’s premier R&D institution responsible for the country’s research activities in the Polar and Southern Ocean realms. She also showed the students projects that were being conducted on the Indian Antarctic Research bases “Maitri” and “Bharati”.

Mr. Lalit briefed the students on how services such as telecommunication and entertainment were introduced in the above research bases with the help of different satellites and antennas. He also demonstrated their project reporting portal, which was very helpful in maintaining logs, and as a guide for upcoming researchers during their expeditions.

The students were accompanied by their teachers Ms. Fiona Coutinho and Ms. Cynara Fernandes, both Assistant Professors in the Computer Engineering department.
