PCCE TECHYON 2021 INAUGURATION

The Student Unit of Information Technology (SUIT) organized an informative and interactive webinar on 25th March 2023, aimed at helping students in their transition from campus to the corporate world.

The esteemed speaker for the session was Pooja Raghmode, a Software Engineer at Persistent Systems and an alumni of Padre Conceiceo College of Engineering, where she completed her Bachelors in Information Technology. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Shailendra Aswale, Head of the I.T. Department and Mr. Shaba Dessai and Mr. Amey Wadekar, the faculty in charge – SUIT, and was hosted by Kripa Davidson, one of the executive members of SUIT, who warmly welcomed the gathering and introduced the speaker.

Pooja Raghmode, in her engaging session, emphasized the critical importance of preparing for the corporate world and shared valuable insights on the challenges that students may face during their transition. Some of the key takeaways from the webinar are as follows:

  1. Soft Skills for Corporate Success: She highlighted the need to develop essential soft skills such as effective communication, teamwork, problem-solving and time management. She emphasized that these skills are crucial for success in the corporate world, and shared practical tips on how to enhance and demonstrate above skills.
  2. Resume Building and Interview Skills: Students learned about the importance of tailoring their resumes according to the job requirements, highlighting their achievements, and presenting themselves confidently in interviews.
  3. Corporate Etiquette and Dressing: Pooja Raghmode emphasized the significance of professional behaviour, workplace ethics, and appropriate dressing in the corporate world. Students learned about the do’s and don’ts of corporate etiquette, including proper email communication, business communication, and professional conduct in the workplace.

The session was highly interactive, with participants actively engaging with the speaker and asking relevant questions. Pooja Raghmode patiently answered most of the queries and provided valuable insights based on her own experiences in the corporate world. The session concluded with a vote of thanks given by Darshan Nair, President of SUIT, expressing gratitude to the speaker for her valuable guidance.
