TE ETC VISITS HIMACHAL FUTURISTIC COMMUNICATIONS LIMITED (HFCL), VERNA

On 21st April 2023, the third-year students of  Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (ETC) visited Himachal Futuristic Communications Limited (HFCL), Verna for an industrial visit. They were accompanied by Prof. Rohini Korti and Prof. Raksha Singbal.

The students arrived at the company at 10:45 am. Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by the company representative MS. Deepika.

The students were first given a presentation where, the employees introduced the company and its operations. They provided insights into the manufacturing process of optical fibre cables and related accessories.

The tour of the plant began with a detailed explanation of the production process. The students saw the raw materials, including the glass tubes, and how they were processed to form optical fibers. The students also witnessed the complex machinery used in the manufacturing process. The machines included the colouring line, ribboning, secondary coating line, and stranding line.

The students were amazed to see how the optical fiber cables were made and the level of precision required. They learned about the different types of optical fibres and the applications for which they are used. The students were also introduced to the testing procedures that ensure the quality of the products.

The field trip to HFCL was an excellent opportunity for the ETC students to gain practical knowledge about the manufacturing process of optical fiber cables and related OFC accessories. The students gained insights into the complex machinery and precision required to manufacture these products. The tour of the plant was a valuable experience that would aid the students in their future endeavors. The students thanked the company for the opportunity to visit the plant and gain practical knowledge.
