Accompanied by: Prof. Shailesh Khanolkar & Asst. Prof. Amay Desai

The R.A.C.E. (Robotics, Automation, Coding & Electronics) Club of the Electronics and Computer Engineering Department at Padre Conceicao College of Engineering (PCCE) successfully conducted a workshop on Line Follower Robots for students of Vidya Vikas Academy, Margao, on 8th November 2024.

The workshop was designed to introduce school students to the fundamentals of robotics, sensors, and embedded systems through a hands-on session focused on the concept of Line Following Robots. The session was led by Shivam Vishwakarma (TE ECOMP) and Varad Naik (BE ECOMP), both active members of the R.A.C.E. Club. The team was accompanied and supported by Prof. Shailesh Khanolkar and Asst. Prof. Amay Desai from the department.

Students were introduced to:

  • The working principle behind line follower robots
  • Infrared sensors used for path detection
  • Basic Arduino programming
  • Wiring and assembling the robot components

Participants also had the opportunity to engage in the practical assembly and testing of their own line follower bots in small teams. The interactive nature of the workshop encouraged curiosity, collaboration, and creativity among the school students.

The session concluded with a demonstration of advanced robotic prototypes by the PCCE students and a brief Q&A where students actively interacted with the trainers.

This outreach initiative by the R.A.C.E. Club not only promoted technical awareness at the school level but also strengthened academic-industry-institution collaboration. The workshop was well received by the staff and students of Vidya Vikas Academy and served as a successful example of student-led knowledge sharing.
