Session on Electronics and Computing in the future of EV Charging Infrastructure

As part of Aarush 2025, a guest lecture was conducted on 25th September 2025 at Padre Conceição College of Engineering (PCCE). The session was delivered by Mr. Mrunal Narayan Gaonkar, Manager at Jio-BP and an esteemed alumnus of PCCE, on the topic “Electronics and Computing in the Future of EV Charging Infrastructure.”

Mr. Gaonkar shared insights into the rapid growth of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in India and the critical role of charging infrastructure, with special reference to projects implemented in Goa under the Smart City Mission. He highlighted the comparison between Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles and EVs, discussed the current challenges in charging networks, and explained the technical architecture of EV charging systems, including control systems, user authentication, and types of charging guns.

The importance of AC vs DC charging and the role of fast-charging technologies in reducing range anxiety were also emphasized. The session was highly interactive, beginning and concluding with student-driven question rounds.

Overall, the talk was informative and inspiring, showcasing both the technological future of EVs and the opportunities available for young engineers in the field of sustainable mobility and smart infrastructure.
