Tech Talk on “Engineering tomorrow: The human side of software”

Aarush 10.0, the much-anticipated technical event of PCCE was organised on 29th August, 2024. Numerous workshops & sessions are conducted to fuel the tech savvy and curious minds of the future creators.  

Ms. Melitta Pacheco, an associate software engineer was invited by ACE to enlighten young tech enthusiasts on the topic “Engineering Tomorrow: The human side of software”. Ms.Pacheco highlighted the necessity of exploring various domains such as AI,ML, web development, etc. so as to gain better understanding of the field.

Furthermore, Ms.Pacheco emphasized on being emphatic while developing applications which cater to the needs of the user. Understanding that not all users might be tech savvy she believed in developing applications that are accessible to all kinds of user.

Moreover, she emphasized on cultivating communication and collaboration skills among teammates to ensure that there is smooth flow of work in corporation. Effective communication can be achieved by taking accountability for one’s actions, resolving conflicts by pinpointing the problem instead of the person and utilising resources like Teams, Jira, etc.

In addition to it, Ms.Melitta stated that ethical responsibility plays a vital role in software development. Developers need to make sure that data is encrypted, the solution isn’t jeopardizing to the society and there is no algorithmic bias towards a certain gender or community.

Ms. Pacheco further urged the students to be ambitious, have a progressive attitude & to introspect themselves. She motivated the tech maniacs to be a part of hackathons, hands-on workshops and take up courses on Udemy or Coursera.She advised the tech aficionados to upskill themselves since technology around us is evolving every second. Improvising on our skills is the only way to become a capable engineer who contribute towards a better society.
