Hands-On Workshop on MATLAB – Matrix of Possibilities

As part of Aarush 2025, a hands-on workshop on “MATLAB: Matrix of Possibilities” was conducted on 25th September 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Padre Conceição College of Engineering (PCCE). The session was delivered by Ms. Rohini Korti, Ms. Sharlaine Nicole Monteiro, and Ms. Marissa Ataide, Assistant Professors in the ECOMP Department, PCCE.

The workshop was coordinated by Assistant Professor Sanjeet Kanekar, who also introduced all the speakers and set the context for the session.

The workshop introduced students to MATLAB and its framework, providing them with an opportunity to explore its powerful applications in engineering and scientific computing.

The session covered:

  • Basics of MATLAB: matrix operations, arithmetic calculations, and loops.
  • Plotting in MATLAB: creation of 2D plots and visualization techniques.
  • Animation Plots: introduction to dynamic data visualization.
  • Creative Examples:
  • Starfield simulation
  • Burst of dots animation
  • Removing the negative of an image for image processing applications.

The workshop was highly interactive and practical, allowing students to implement concepts in real time. Through simple yet impactful examples, participants were able to appreciate MATLAB’s versatility in areas such as data visualization, numerical computing, and creative problem-solving.

The session concluded with student interactions, where participants expressed their enthusiasm to further explore MATLAB for academic projects and research.

Overall, the workshop provided a strong foundation in MATLAB and encouraged students to think innovatively, justifying the theme “Matrix of Possibilities.”
