MADKAI INDUSTRIAL ESTATE, PONDA GOA

On 11th August 2017, the department of mechanical engineering along with the training and placement cell of the PCCE College organized a field trip for the Third year mechanical students to Godrej locking and security solutions plant, Madkai Industrial Estate, Ponda Goa. All the students enthusiastically participated in the activity and were accompanied by Prof. Marvin Fernandes and Prof. Pushparaj Pingulkar. The students were first acquainted with the product range offered by the company which includes 5 basic types of security solutions. After this, they were taken to plant 1 where all the raw materials needed for manufacturing locks and keys was stored and along with it, the methods of maintaining a stock at the stores and minimizing wastage of material was shown. The shop floor was the next stop, were they were made familiar with the process of blank punching of lock and key, hydraulic and pneumatic pressing, injection die casting and powder coating. The guides explained the machines in which these processes were done in detail to the inquisitive minds and a free interaction was seen among them.
